Rates are great, and service WAS speedy and informative... until I had to delay my closing date on a house by a week (no fault of mine, seller's issue). I was promised that I would get my home insurance updated with the new closing date on the next day. Lender was pushing for it, and I informed my State Farm agent about the urgency.
The next morning, the lender urged me for the updated insurance again. State Farm had been responsive up to this point, so I opted to wait it out.
Early afternoon rolls around. No response from State Farm. I fired off a follow up email at around 2:30 PM. No response. I called at 3:50 PM. Nothing. I left a voicemail. Nothing. I called again 10 minutes later. Nothing. I called again 30 minutes later. Nothing. I called from a different phone number--bingo, finally picked up.
That's when I realized I was being ghosted on purpose for at most a 20 minute task from State Farm. I was told they were experiencing "technical issues." Funny that the technical issues meant sending my calls to voicemail and ignoring my emails. Suddenly I was the #1 priority, and guess what? Finally got my updated insurance 20 minutes after they bothered to answer me.
I've never been treated this way; not in work, not in friendships, and certainly not with any business of which I'm a client. If this is how they treat me over a 20 minute task--breaking promises, ghosting, lying through their teeth--then imagine how it would go if you had to file a claim? Or process other time-sensitive matters?
This one encounter has greatly soured my overall experience and caused undue stress in an already extremely stressful situation (buying a house!). If I hadn't been on a short timeline, and hadn't received competitive rates and great conversations, then I would have moved on to a different insurance agency.
Though with all the positive reviews here, maybe I was unlucky. If you decide to go forward with Kevin Cooke, then I genuinely hope you have a much better experience than me. I wished mine was better too.
